Use of cookies

Our website offering uses what are known as cookies. Cookies are small text files that are saved by your browser and stored on your computer. Cookies are used in order to help make the website offering more user-friendly. For instance, they enable the recognition of the user for the duration of the session, without constantly requiring the re-entry of a username and password. Moreover, we use cookies in the context of web tracking; this includes Google Analytics for preparing use profiles (c.f. reference).

If you would prefer not to use cookies, you can configure your browser settings to not allow the saving of cookies. However, this may negatively affect the functionality of our websites during your visit.

Data collection by Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service by Google Inc. (‘Google’). Google Analytics uses what are known as cookies. These are text files that are stored on your computer and enable an analysis of your use of the website. The information collected by the cookie regarding your use of this website is typically sent to a Google server in the USA, where it is subsequently stored.

If IP anonymisation is activated on this website, your IP address will first be shortened by Google within the member states of the European Union or in other contractual states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. The full IP address will only be sent to a Google server in the USA and shortened there in exceptional cases. We wish to point out that Google Analytics has been expanded by the code ‘anonymizeIP’ on this website in order to ensure the anonymised collection of IP addresses.

On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to analyse your use of the website, compile reports on website activity and provide further services associated with website use and Internet use to the website operator. The IP address sent by your browser in connection with Google Analytics is not combined with other data held by Google.

You may prevent the saving of cookies by configuring your browser software accordingly; we wish to inform you, however, that this may result in you not being able to use the full functionality of this website. Moreover, you may prevent the transmission of data obtained by the cookie and in relation to your use of the website to Google and the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plugin available via the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.

Use of Google AdWords Conversion Tracking

We use the online advertising program ‘Google AdWords’ and Conversion Tracking in connection with Google AdWords. Google Conversion Tracking is an analysis service by Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA; ‘Google’). If you click on an advert placed by Google, a cookie for Conversion Tracking will be stored on your computer. These cookies become invalid after 30 days. They do not store any personal data and are therefore not used for personal identification. If you visit certain Internet pages on our website and the cookie has not expired, we and Google can recognise that you have clicked the ad and that you have been referred to this page. Every Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie. This means it is not possible for cookies to be tracked via the websites of AdWords customers.

The information obtained by means of the conversion cookie is used to prepare conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have opted for Conversion Tracking. The customers thereby find out the total number of users who have clicked on their ad and who have been referred to a page with a Conversion Tracking tag. However, they do not receive any information that can personally identify users.
If you do not wish to take part in tracking, you can object to this use by preventing the installation of cookies through the appropriate setting in your browser software (deactivation option). You will then not be included in Conversion Tracking statistics. Further information and the data privacy policy of Google can be found here: https://privacy.google.com/?hl=de#

DoubleClick

DoubleClick is a service by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (‘Google’). DoubleClick uses cookies in order to present relevant ads for you. Your browser is assigned a pseudonym identification number (ID) to check which ads are shown in your browser and which ads are clicked on. The use of DoubleClick cookies allows Google and its partner websites to place ads based on previous visits to our websites or other websites on the Internet. You can permanently deactivate these cookies via https://www.google.com/settings/ads/plugin?hl=de.

We have included YouTube videos in our online offering that are stored on www.youtube.com and which can be played directly on our website. We use the ‘extended data privacy mode’ provided by YouTube in order to integrate the videos. According to YouTube, no information is stored regarding the visitors to our website unless they watch the video. Despite the use of the extended data privacy mode, we cannot rule out that Google will place a DoubleClick cookie for commercial purposes. You can permanently deactivate this cookie via https://www.google.com/settings/ads/plugin?hl=de.

Right to information/deletion and blocking of data

If you wish, you can receive free information about all the personal data we have stored about you. Moreover, you can request the correction of incorrectly stored data and you have a right to the deletion of your data, provided such deletion is not prevented by justified reasons, such as the execution of a contractual relationship or compliance with legal, statutory or contractual retention periods. As an alternative to deletion, you may have the right to block the data.

You may contact our external data protection officer, Mr Arndt Halbach from the company GINDAT GmbH, Wetterauer Str.6, 42887 Remscheid, by email (datenschutz(at)mmc.de) at any time.
