MMC Independent - The International Film Financing Partner
MMC Independent GmbH (MMCI) is the film production arm of Magic Media Company. Parallel to the leasing of studios, the construction of scenery and props, MMCI serves as a co-producer and provides assistance with financing and content. Moreover, it can run the complete production on the German side. MMCI has available a broad-range of options for securing the necessary financing; it can, for example, defer the charges for services rendered by it, arrange for interim financing or even the use of grants awarded in connection with reference films. MMCI also takes care of the acquisition and handling of the multitude of regional and national film subsidies and is authorized to submit projects to Germany’s largest regional film grant programme (Filmstiftung NRW). Additionally, there is the German Film Promotion Fund (Deutscher Filmförderfond, DFFF) which was set up in 2007. Based on an “automatic” promotion system, the German Film Promotion Fund can grant a film project up to 10 million euros. To qualify for this funding, the project must satisfy a catalogue of specific characteristics. The Federal Film Promotion Authority (Filmförderungsanstalt, FFA) offers another possible source of financing on a national level. The close connections with distributors, sales organizations and TV broadcasters all ensure a wide-range of opportunities for exploitation of the work.
