On Friday, August 9th, the edge-of-your-seat nail-biter by Oscar®-nominated director Patrick Vollrath will be screened in front of an 8,000 audience at the Piazza Grande. Major parts of the plane hijacking thriller starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt were shot at MMC Studios.
In the movie, a commercial flight is suddenly hijacked by terrorists, leaving a young pilot to fight and negotiate with the ruthless attackers. What takes place inside the claustrophobic cockpit could spell disaster for those trapped outside, and beyond…
The airline hijacking thriller is Patrick Vollrath’s full-length feature debut following his Academy Award® nominated short, ‘Everything Will Be Okay’.
‘7500’ was written by Patrick Vollrath based on the story by Vollrath and Senad Halilbasic.
From October 31 to December 6, 2017, principal photography for ‘7500’ took place on soundstage 37 of MMC Studios in Cologne (Germany), and on location in Mönchengladbach (Germany) and Vienna (Austria).
The film is a production of Cologne-based augenschein Filmproduktion, in co-production with Novotny & Novotny, SWR, BR and ARTE. Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Lindsay Williams of the Gotham Group are serving as executive producers.
The film is backed by Film und Medienstiftung NRW (860,000 Euros / 960,000 USD). Further funding was provided by DFFF, BKM, FFA, MFG, FFHSH as well as ÖFI, Filmfonds Vienna, and FISA.
