On December 21, 2017, The Walt Disney Company released the family movie “Papa Moll” (Mr. Moll) in Switzerland. Since then, Switzerland‘s presumably most famous family man attracted already more than 100,000 moviegoers. In the last week of 2017, “Papa Moll” was the second most successful movie in in the German-speaking part of Switzerland, directly behind “Star Wars”.
Three weeks after its release, “Papa Moll” has already become the most successful Swiss film since “The Devine Order” which was also produced by Zodiac Pictures and which was released on March 9, 2017.

In addition to the success in Switzerland, “Papa Moll” (international title: “Mr. Moll and the Chocolate Factory”) sold to Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, China, Australia, New Zealand, Turkey, Estonia and the Middle East. International sales are handled by ARRI Worldsales.
On April 12, 2018, the family entertainment movie will be released with the title “Papa Moll und die Entführung des fliegenden Hundes” (Mr. Moll and the Kidnapping of the Flying Dog) in Austria and Germany.
The one weekend when Mr. Moll is home alone with the kids, absolute chaos breaks loose. While working overtime in the chocolate factory, Mr. Moll´s kids get into a fight with the neighbor’s kids – a fight surrounding sweets, homework and the most famous Circus Dog.
“Papa Moll” is a production of Zodiac Pictures Ltd in co-production with MMC Zodiac, SRF, Impuls Media Group, and Teleclub.
The movie was backed by Federal Office of Culture, Zurich Film Foundation, SRF, SRG SSR, Teleclub, Kanton Luzern and Aargau, DFFF, Suissimage, and MEDIA Development. Further partners are the Foundation for the Promotion of Health Bad Zurzach + Baden, the Municipality Bad Zurzach, as well as Aargau Tourism.
“Papa Moll” is based on the comic books by Edith Oppenheim-Jonas which were published by Globi Verlag Zurich. On October 13, 2017, the 30th volume was released by the publishing house.
The movie was shot in August and September 2016 in Switzerland, at the MMC Studios in Cologne, Germany, and in Görlitz, Germany.
