Tonight, DSDS (German Idol) Season 18 will premiere on RTL. At 8:15 p.m., the broadcaster will air the first of 13 audition episodes which have been shot on board of the ‘Blue Rhapsody’.
MMC Studios’ Technical Operations team was in charge of the technical TV production on board of the river cruise ship and the MMC Art Department took care of the set construction on behalf of production company, UFA SHOW & FACTUAL GmbH.
The post-production was performed at MMC Studios in Cologne.
The auditions took place entirely on the ‘Blue Rhapsody‘, which sailed through the UNESCO World Heritage site ‘Upper Middle Rhine Valley‘ in September 2020.
On the trip, the 280 ft. long vessel repeatedly took talents on board, who faced the critical eyes and ears of the judges, hoping to get the coveted recall ticket. Only about 100 talents eventually got it.
‘Deutschland sucht den Superstar’ Season 18 (with a total of 22 episodes) airs from January 5th, always Tuesdays and Saturdays at 8:15 p.m. on RTL.
The show is also available for streaming on TVNOW.
