Oskar Roehler’s latest film, which was shot at MMC Studios and in Munich, is a homage to one of the most legendary German Filmmakers — Rainer Werner Fassbinder.
Roehler’s biopic focuses on Fassbinder’s life from 1969 to 1982. The prolific, provocative, brilliant and deeply polarizing Fassbinder died of a drug overdose aged 37 in 1982, having made over 40 features.
His radical views and self-exploitation, as well as his longing for love, have made him one of the most fascinating film directors of this time.
Oliver Masucci, whose credits include ‘Dark’ and ‘Look Who’s Back’, stars as Fassbinder, leading an ensemble cast featuring Hary Prinz, Katja Riemann, Jochen Schropp, Erdal Yildiz, Markus, Hering, Frida-Lovisa Hamann, Christian Berkel, Alexander Scheer, Eva Mattes, Désirée Nick, and André Hennicke.
The film, which was part of the 2020 Cannes Film Festival’s Official Selection, is a production of Bavaria Filmproduktion and X Filme Creative Pool, in co-production with channels WDR, BR, and ARTE.
It was funded by Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and DFFF, among others.
Weltkino Filmverleih released ‘Enfant Terrible’ in Germany on October 1st, 2020.
