‘7500’ starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt will hit theaters in Germany next Thursday! Major parts of the intense thriller by Oscar®-nominated director Patrick Vollrath were shot at MMC Studios.
In ‘7500’, Gordon-Levitt plays the co-pilot of a plane that has been hijacked by terrorists. The title references the code 7500, which a pilot uses in the event of a hijacking. The code is designed to silently alert air traffic controllers of the situation without tipping off the hijacker.
The movie is a high-flying drama set at 30,000 feet.
This striking portrait of an airline hijacking brings the horror of modern terrorism to life like never before. Here, every moment is a matter of life and death. Human frailty collides with the desperate fear of the unknown to undermine both hijacker and pilot, and allegiances can change in a heartbeat.
The airline hijacking thriller is Patrick Vollrath’s full-length feature debut following his Academy Award® nominated short, ‘Everything Will Be Okay’. ‘7500’ was written by Patrick Vollrath based on the story by Vollrath and Senad Halilbasic.
In addition to Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the cast includes Aylin Tezel, Murathan Muslu, and Omid Memar.
From October 31 to December 6, 2017, principal photography for ‘7500’ took place on soundstage 37 of MMC Studios in Cologne (Germany), and on location in Mönchengladbach (Germany) and Vienna (Austria).
The movie is a production of Cologne-based augenschein Filmproduktion (Jonas Katzenstein und Maximilian Leo), in co-production with Novotny & Novotny (Franz Novotny und Alexander Glehr), SWR, BR and ARTE. Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Lindsay Williams of the Gotham Group are serving as executive producers.
The film is backed by Film und Medienstiftung NRW (860,000 Euros). Further funding was provided by DFFF, BKM, FFA, MFG, FFHSH as well as ÖFI, Filmfonds Vienna, and FISA.
