It’s magical at MMC Studios these days: Directed by Gregor Schnitzler, the filming for ‘The School of Magical Animals’ is currently underway on one of MMC’s soundstages.
Until mid-November, the big-screen adaptation of the bestselling children’s book series by Margit Auer will be shot in carefully decorated film sets built by MMC’s art department. The story about a school in which the children get a magical animal as a companion mesmerizes not only kids but also grown-ups.
The cast includes Nadja Uhl, Milan Peschel, Justus von Dohnányi, Emilia Maier, Leonard Conrads, and Loris Sichrovsky, among others.
Kordes & Kordes Film Süd produces the feature film in co-production with Leonine, Wega Film, and Clever Productions.
The film is backed by MFG Baden-Wuerttemberg, FFF Bavaria, FFA, MBB, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, DFFF, BFF, the Austrian Film Institute, Filmfunds Vienna and FISA.
Leonine will release the movie adventure for the whole family in theaters in Germany on November 26, 2020.
