Theatrical release for "The Have-Nots" on December 01, 2016

Florian Hoffmeister's "Die Habenichtse" will be released in cinemas on December 1, 2016.

The interior shots for the literary adaptation were filmed at MMC Studios, where the MMC Art Department realized the set construction according to a scene design by Cora Pratz.

About the content:
On September 11, 2001, Jakob and Isabelle meet again after a long time and fall in love. While the attack on the World Trade Center keeps the whole world on tenterhooks, the two are preoccupied with themselves and their newfound love.

But their happiness is overshadowed by the death of their mutual friend Hans, who died in the attack in New York. Jakob gets his job in London and persuades Isabelle to go there with him. While Jakob buries his feelings of guilt in his work, Isabelle remains on her own in London, without any fixed goals or tasks.

Their life together starts to crack and their only chance would be to meet each other honestly. A task that seems impossible: helpless and increasingly desperate, they watch their lives fall apart at the seams. A spiral of longing, guilt and alienation develops, at the end of which there is an outbreak of uncontrolled violence.

The film tells of the intervention of world events in one's own life, of the inability to empathize and the longing for existential experiences. Isabelle and Jakob experience that it is their encounter with each other from which change becomes possible. If we love differently, we will live differently.

Katharina Hacker's novel of the same name, which won the German Book Prize in 2006, provided the template for this film.

Julia Jentsch, Sebastian Zimmler and Bibiana Beglau can be seen in the leading roles.
