The post-production department of MMC Studios Köln GmbH was commissioned by UFA SHOW & FACTUAL in fall 2019 to handle and archive the footage shot during this extraordinary expedition to the Arctic. In addition, MMC was responsible for creating editable proxy files of the camera raw data shot in UHD as well as for UHD conforming.
The shot material was shipped by a Russian icebreaker after each different section of the expedition and finally delivered to MMC Studios in Germany. For each section, about 100 terabytes of material were delivered and, in the first step, securely stored on a high-availability file server at MMC.
