On the set of the airplane thriller "7500" with Joseph Gordon-Levitt at MMC Studios

Shooting of the thriller "7500" is currently underway at MMC Studios. with Hollywood star Joseph Gordon-Levitt ("Snowden," "Inception," "The Dark Knight Rises") in the lead role of pilot Tobias Ellis. Today, the film was released by director Patrick Vollrath presented to the press on set at MMC Studio 37.

Playing alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Aylin Tezel ("Almanya - Willkommen in Deutschland", "Tatort", "Am Himmel der Tag") as well as the promising newcomer Omid Memar.

Patrick Vollrath, who won numerous international awards for his short film "Alles wird gut" and received an Oscar nomination, also wrote the screenplay for his feature film debut.

Horror of modern terrorism
7500, a thriller set exclusively in the cockpit, shows the horror of modern terrorism in an unprecedented way: A flight from Berlin to Paris. Everyday work in the cockpit of an Airbus A319. Co-pilot Tobias Ellis routinely prepares the plane for takeoff. The takeoff goes smoothly, as always.

But then suddenly you hear shouting in the cabin. A group of young men, including eighteen-year-old Vedat, are trying to break into the cockpit. A battle begins between the crew and the attackers, a tug-of-war between the desire to save individual lives and avert even greater damage. The cockpit door becomes the battlefield and Tobias finds himself in the position of having to decide between life and death...

Patrick Vollrath's vision is to stage this suspenseful plot very close to reality and with great emotional depth. Therefore, casting the lead role was of utmost importance to him: "Joseph is one of the most exciting actors of his generation and I am insanely looking forward to his realization of this emotionally very complex role."

Also the two Producers emphasize how important the top-class casting of this role is to them: "For the main role of Tobias, we are bringing Joseph Gordon-Levitt once again adds a whole new dimension to the character, because he has often shown how multi-faceted he can embody his roles," says Jonas Katzenstein.

"We are just incredibly excited to see what kind of intense thriller a performer of this caliber will bring to the screen in collaboration with a filmmaker as innovative and talented as Patrick," adds Maximilian Leowho is also optimistic about the international evaluation.

7500 was written by Patrick Vollrath and based on a story by Patrick Vollrath and Senad Halilbasic. The film will produced by Jonas Katzenstein and Maximilian Leo (augenschein film production) in coproduction with Franz Novotny and Alexander Glehr (Novotny & Novotny), SWR, BR and ARTE.

The film will sponsored by Film and Media Foundation NRW, DFFF, BKM, FFA, MFG, FFHSH, ÖFI, Filmfonds Wien and FISA.

The Filming will take place from October 31 to December 6, 2017 in the MMC Studios in Cologne, as well as in Mönchengladbach and Vienna held.

The film is expected to be distributed by Universum Film in 2018.
