Aircraft thriller "7500" celebrates world premiere at 72nd Locarno Festival on August 9

At August 9 presents the Oscar-nominated Director Patrick Vollrath his new film „7500“ in front of 8,000 spectators on the Piazza Grande in Locarno - in the presence of Hollywood star Joseph Gordon-Levitt. With "7500", which is largely based in the MMC Studios was filmed, Patrick Vollrath is a highly suspenseful, intense thriller which is set exclusively in the cockpit.

In international aviation, the number combination 7500 is the emergency code for a hijacked aircraft.

A flight from Berlin to Paris. Everyday work in the cockpit of an Airbus A319. Co-pilot Tobias Ellis (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) routinely prepares the plane for takeoff. The takeoff goes smoothly, as usual. But then shouting is heard in the cabin. A group of young men, among them eighteen-year-old Vedat (Omid Memar), try to break into the cockpit. A battle begins between crew and attackers, a tug-of-war between the desire to save individual lives and avert even greater harm. The cockpit door becomes the battlefield and Tobias finds himself in the position of having to decide between life and death...

Patrick Vollrath, who won numerous international awards for his short film "Alles wird gut" and received an Oscar® nomination, wrote in collaboration with Senad Halilbasic also wrote the screenplay for his feature film debut '7500'. In the leading role shines Hollywood star Joseph Gordon-Levitt (SNOWDEN, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, 500 DAYS OF SUMMER). Playing alongside him are Aylin Tezel (ALMANYA - WILLKOMMEN IN DEUTSCHLAND, AM HIMMEL DER TAG, "Tatort") and the newcomer Omid Memar (THE COLLINI CASE, FIVE FRIENDS 4, "Crime Scene," "M - A Town Looking for a Murderer").

Besides shooting on an airplane set in the MMC Studio 37 in Cologne, filming also took place in Mönchengladbach and Vienna.

The film is a Production from augenschein film production (Jonas Katzenstein and Maximilian Leo) in co-production with Novotny & Novotny Filmproduktion (Franz Novotny and Alexander Glehr), SWR, BR and ARTE.

"7500" was promoted by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, DFFF, BKM, FFA Filmförderungsanstalt, MFG, FFHSH, ÖFI, the Vienna Film Fund and FISA.

The Cinema release in Germany is for Beginning 2020 distributed by Universum Film is planned.
