"Die Rüden" celebrates world premiere at the Hof Film Festival

About the film:

Four convicted violent criminals, three highly vicious dogs and a woman ready to go into battle against helpless institutions and the cycle of violence. But above all against their own doubts about redemption from evil.

"The Males" is a journey to the center of humanity that is as impressive as it is disturbing.

Production Notes:

The prisoners in "The Dogs" are portrayed by young men with acting training, but also a biography of violence in real life. The dogs are not trained movie dogs, but real problem cases with high aggression potential.

The concept for the feature film comes from director and Grimme Award winner Connie Walther and dog trainer Nadin Matthews.

The film is a production of the hands-on producers GmbH, Cologne, in co-production with zero one film, Berlin, and SWR in cooperation with ARTE.

He was sponsored by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, BKM, MFG Medien- und Filmgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg and the FFA Filmförderungsanstalt.

Filmed was shot on 33 days in the studio and on location in Cologne and Baden-Württemberg.
